The Hawthorne Gallery represents the artwork of the multi-talented Hawthorne family as well as the work of selected outstanding artists across the country. Gregory Hawthorne came to Big Sur with his family in 1982. Along with his wife Susan Hawthorne and his assistant Michael Breen, Gregory realized a long-cherished dream with the opening of the Gallery in May of 1995. The building's distinctive design is the result of a collaboration with famed Post Ranch Inn architect Mickey Muennig.
